Marnie’s Favorites: 2024 Beach House Bathroom Tile Selections
Beach houses are all about relaxation, fun, and creating spaces that reflect the beauty and playfulness of the beach. When designing a beach house, the fun factor is a key ingredient and one of my favorite ways to inject personality and charm into a beach house is through tile choices. While these selections are perfect for a coastal retreat, they can also translate beautifully into any home. I’m excited to share some of my favorite tile selections, from bold and colorful options that add a splash of personality to timeless tiles that create a neutral, spa-like atmosphere.
Let’s dig in…
Bold and Colorful Tiles
When it comes to making a statement, bold and colorful tiles are a fantastic choice. Bathrooms, in particular, are great places to go bold with tile – they’re meant to be fun and can handle a splash of color and creativity.
Parasol Poppy Tile by Stone Impressions
One of my favorite shower wall tiles, the Stone Impressions Parasol tile is a bright and happy choice that brings a vibrant energy to our “7’s Heaven” bathroom. This 12×12 tile features a cheerful poppy-like design that adds a touch of whimsy and elegance, making it a standout piece in our beach house builds. The intricate pattern set next to a classic 3×12 stacked subway tile with gray grout creates a perfect blend of modern fun and timeless beauty.

Summerland Hexagon Tiles
As seen in our “Family Tides” bunk bed bathroom, the Summerland Collection by Jeffrey Alan Marks authentically captures the essence of carefree summer days. We matched the wall trim to this stunning Miramar color for a breezy, vibrant vibe. This can be used on both walls and floors, creating a cohesive look that’s both elegant and playful.
We paired it with Savannah 3×8 3D White Gloss Porcelain Tile on the shower walls. This tile features a three-dimensional structure with touches of clay, giving the impression of gaps in the glaze for a handmade, time-worn look. The neutral tones of the Savannah tile provide a perfect balance, ensuring the boldness of the Miramar hex tiles doesn’t overwhelm the space.

Sunny Days Ceramic Tile by Riad Tile
This tile instantly sparks joy and makes me smile. What’s better than sunny tile at the beach? We paired this with Solid Hex 8X9 Hexagon White Porcelain Tile on the floor – a classic white tile to offset the bold choice on the walls.

Dandelion Blue Ceramic Tile by Riad Tile
We chose Dandelion Blue Ceramic Tile by Riad Tile for both the shower floor and the vanity wall, creating a dramatic effect that is beautifully offset by the shiplap-angled ceiling.
We used Klondike Yukon White 16×48 3D Matte Ceramic Wall Tile for the shower walls. This large-format tile reduces grout lines and offers a sophisticated, textured backdrop, perfect for enhancing the space without competing with a bolder pairing.

We also used the Klondike Yukon White in another project from our “7’s Heaven” build and this one shows the linear texture.
Art Geo by Elizabeth Sutton Cement Deco Blue 8×8 Matte Porcelain Tile
This one features a four-color triangular geometric design in white, navy, and two lighter blues and has a matte finish, creating a harmonious visual. We paired it with a classic subway tile on the shower walls with white grout. Again, balancing a pop of color with a more muted and neutral tile.

Sonare Tone 3×9 by Lunada Bay
The pearl finish of these hand-cast glass tiles gives a whimsical and water-like feel that adds a wow factor from our Family Tides build. Color: Spring Water.

Vita Bella Polished Large Format Porcelain Tile
This large format 24×48 porcelain tile from Italy looks like marble without the maintenance. The high gloss finish gives the space a sophistication. We used it here on the shower wall but it’s also durable enough for flooring. We paired it with 12×24 Sahara Carrara Polished Marble tile in our Beach to Bay build.

It also comes in other colors, as seen here from our Family Tides build.
Neutral Tile Selections
Kenridge Ribbon White 24×48 Matte Porcelain Wood Look Tile
For this spa-like indoor/outdoor shower, we went with Kenridge Ribbon White 24×48 Matte Porcelain Wood Look Tile for the indoor shower walls. It’s 3-dimensional linear texture mimics the look of wood for a Bali-type, spa feel.
In the adjoining outdoor shower, we used Oceana Onyx 24X24 White Polished Porcelain Tile on the walls and a pebble stone tile throughout both indoor and outdoor shower floors.

Calacatta Extra Porcelain Tile by Atlas Plan
For some added luxury, we choose a large format Calacatta Extra porcelain slab without grout lines for a seamless look. The bright white with grey veining and gold reflections gives a marble look and works well with both classic and modern design.
For the floor, we used large 24×24 Italian porcelain tile to keep those grout lines to a minimum.

Asian Statuary Honed Marble Tile
Known for its bright white appearance and dramatic, gray veining, this marble tile makes any space pop in a sophisticated way. A timeless classic. We used 12×24 on the floor and 6×18 on the walls.

Mykonos – Kalafati Marble by Mir Mosaic
This Mykonos Kalafati marble tile in a chevron pattern blends sophistication and playfulness as seen in our “Sea Vous Play” primary suite. Combined with White Carrara 4X12 Polished Marble Tile on the other wall, this is a winning combination.

Montauk Gin White 4×4 Mixed Finish Ceramic Tile
Do you love a classic white tile, but looking for a little extra oomph? This 4×4 Ceramic Tile checks that box. Choosing the satin finish and taking it from floor to ceiling on the vanity wall gives it a modern twist. For the floor, we complemented it with a 1×3 marble mosaic tile.

Whether you’re drawn to the vibrant and bold or the serene and neutral, there’s a tile out there that will perfectly suit your style. By thoughtfully pairing bold tiles with neutral ones, you can create a balanced and harmonious look that’s both striking and inviting. I hope these selections inspire you as much as they’ve inspired me.
Happy designing!
