Get Inspired: Outdoor Living Ideas to Elevate Your Home’s Appeal
Living at the beach is all about the outdoors and we believe in creating outdoor spaces that are beautiful and functional, transforming your home into the ultimate retreat. Here are some of our favorite outdoor living ideas from our latest builds to inspire you.
1. The Ultimate Playground
Starting with a bang, these homeowners from our Live Lucky build desired a resort-style experience, and that’s exactly what they got. This ultimate entertaining sanctuary features a pickleball court, putting green, pool, hot tub, outdoor kitchen, boat house with two boat slips, and three decks, including a rooftop deck with stunning ocean views.
2. Retractable Screens
We get it. Large doors for seamless indoor/outdoor living are a dream, but what about the bugs? These remote-controlled retractable screens are the perfect solution, as seen in our Family Tides build. With the touch of a button, the screens descend from their discreet housing at the top, allowing you to enjoy the ocean breeze in peace.

View from the inside shows they seamlessly retract into their discreet housing in the ceiling. See them in action on our Instagram here.
As demonstrated in our Live Lucky build, we also use remote-controlled retractable screens on porches to transform a covered porch into a screened-in porch depending on your mood. Below you can see the screens are lowered.
With one touch of a button, voila! The screens are retracted for an unobstructed view.
Pro Tip: We recommend Phantom Screens.
3. Small Backyard? No Problem.
Who says you can’t have it all in a small backyard? With some creative planning, we managed to incorporate a pool and cabana with a seating area and TV for relaxation into our Gray Pearl build. The pool design is compact yet luxurious, maximizing every inch of space at 12.5’ wide and 23’ long.
Pro Tip: Consider using turf instead of grass as we did here for a maintenance-free backyard.
4. Hot Tubs Are Hot!
One of the biggest trends in outdoor spaces is hot tubs. For our oceanfront homes, we’ve started building inset hot tubs into the deck. This design allows for easy entry and exit and doesn’t obstruct the view from indoors. Our Wavehaven build’s inset hot tub was recently featured in House Beautiful magazine as a hot trend for 2024.
5. Porch Ceiling Heaters
Extend your outdoor living area into a year-round space by adding electric ceiling heaters, as seen in our Sol Mate build. These ceiling or wall-mounted heaters provide warmth and comfort, making your outdoor space usable even in cooler months.
Pro Tip: Need help deciding which heater to choose? We like this 61” electric heater by Twin Eagles as seen above.
6. Beach Bar
Nothing says summertime like a beach bar, and the custom-built one from our Family Tides build is perfect for beach parties, set among the dunes. A nearby hot tub makes it even more inviting—grab a drink, enjoy a soak, and listen to the ocean waves. Paradise!
7. Keep on Swingin’
These double-hanging swings from our Family Tides build are simply adorable and the perfect spot to relax with a book, friends, or nap.
Pro Tip: These swings are made out of synthetic wicker, a durable material that withstands the harsh oceanfront climate. To prolong their life, make sure you bring your cushions indoors when not in use.
Whether you have a spacious yard, a compact space, an oceanfront view, or no view at all, I hope these ideas inspire you to elevate your home’s appeal.
