The original house on this lot just one block from the ocean in Middlesex Beach had been in the family for generations. When they outgrew it, they called on us to create a new custom cottage that fits their lifestyle today, while also incorporating elements of the original home. Hardwood flooring from the previous home tops the kitchen island and bar, while the dining room table and backsplash in the outdoor bathroom are also made from the repurposed wood.
The backyard putting green leads to a spacious screened porch with stone fireplace. Sliding glass doors open from the porch into the living room, which includes another fireplace and custom built-in drawers under the staircase to store games and toys.
A barn door off the mudroom accesses the kitchen, which features a beamed ceiling, seating along the island painted in Benjamin Moore’s Mt. Rainier Gray, decorative Francier Mosaic Black de Ville backsplash, and Q Quartz Calacatta Verona counters. Open shelving along the windows creates a great spot to display plants and accessories.
The main floor primary suite features a vaulted ceiling and pocket doors into a bathroom with two-toned vanity and oversized shower finished in Carrara marble. The 3,429-square-foot home offers four more upper level bedroom suites, including one with custom millwork designed by Marnie.
