Bars Galore: The Perfect Addition to Every Beach Home

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from designing custom homes at the beach, it’s this: no matter the size of the house, everyone wants a bar. Whether it’s for a morning cup of coffee or an evening cocktail, bars have become one of the most requested features in our homes. And why not? A thoughtfully designed bar isn’t just functional—it’s a focal point that can make hosting at the beach fun, effortless, and stylish.

From wet bars to rooftop escapes, here are some of my favorite bar designs we’ve built to inspire your next project or wish list.

The Wet Bar: A Staple in Every Home

The classic wet bar is the most common request we get, and for good reason. It’s versatile, functional, and works in just about any space. In our 7’s Heaven build, we added a reeded backsplash—a detail I absolutely love for its subtle texture and elegance.

PRO TIP: One trick I love is placing the wet bar just outside the kitchen. Why? It helps with traffic flow during parties, keeping guests out of the kitchen and creating a better setup for mingling. Moving the bar to the living room frees up the kitchen for cooking and prep while still giving people a place to gather.

In our Sea Vous Play build, we blended style and functionality by combining open and glass shelving with a playful backsplash that adds the perfect pop of color to the bar design.

In our Dune Lodge build, we framed the bar with shelving on either side, creating an open center space that’s perfect for a statement pendant.

For a timeless beach vibe, this combination from our Narrow Escape build is perfection: Cambria Portrush quartz countertops and backsplash paired with navy cabinets and gold hardware. Absolute chef’s kiss!

The Corner Bar: Small but Mighty

Sometimes, all you need is a little corner bar to make a big impact. Take the sleek design from our Sea Glass build:

  • – A quartz waterfall countertop adds elegance.
  • – A glass backsplash reflects the ocean view, even if you’re facing away from the water.
  • – Hanging glass shelves keep the look modern and airy.

This bar is proof that you don’t need a ton of space to create something special.

The Rec Room Bar: A Full-Size Experience

For a true beach bar vibe, the rec room or lower level is the ideal spot for a full-size setup. One of my favorites is the bar from our Star of the Sea build.

  • – Reclaimed sandstone wood walls give it a coastal feel.
  • – Soapstone countertops and a butcher block bar top create a mix of textures.
  • – Located in the rec room next to a pool table makes it perfect for casual gatherings.

Another full-size bar in our Casa del Mar build was inspired by the homeowners’ favorite bar at Epcot, La Cava del Tequila. We added multi-colored LED lighting under the shelves and bar top to create a fun, festive vibe. The pass-through window to an outdoor bar ledge enhances the seamless flow between indoor and outdoor entertaining.

Vertical shiplap, reclaimed wood accents, and open shelving come together for a clean and inviting design in our Livin’ the Dream build. The pass-through window to the outdoor area adds effortless indoor-outdoor entertaining.

Here, the Serena & Lily wallpaper and pendants truly steal the show, proving that a touch of pattern and stylish lighting can completely elevate a space.

The Outdoor Bar: Beach Vibes All the Way

What’s better than sipping cocktails under the sun? An outdoor bar takes full advantage of the beach setting and this one from our Kan’t Beat the View build is set among the dunes.

One of my favorite touches is inspired by a trip I took to Mexico: bar swings. Yes, swings at the bar! It’s fun for all ages and adds a playful vibe that screams “vacation mode.” I share more about this bar design here.

The Wine Cellar/Bar Combo: Bring the Wine Upstairs

Why hide your wine collection in the basement when you can make it part of your home’s main level?

In our Live Lucky build, we created a stunning wine cellar and wet bar combo right off the kitchen. The wine cellar stores 153 bottles, features walnut shelving and has dedicated cooling to keep everything at the perfect temperature. The three-quarter-inch French glass doors allow guests to admire the collection without stepping inside.

Moving wine storage upstairs makes it more accessible and turns it into a design feature instead of just storage.

The Butler’s Pantry Bar: Hidden and Handy

If you’re tight on space, incorporating a bar into your butler’s pantry is a genius move. In our Kan’t Beat the View build, we tucked the bar into the walk-in pantry, complete with a pocket door to hide clutter when needed.

The Rooftop Bar: Taking It to New Heights

For the ultimate in beachside entertaining, you can’t beat a rooftop bar. This one is situated on the top floor right off the rooftop deck with ocean views, cozy seating, and a breezy atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to unwind with a drink in hand.

The Coffee Bar: Mornings Made Simple

Who says bars are just for cocktails? A coffee bar can transform your mornings and more and more clients are asking for this feature.

One of my favorite setups is a coffee bar tucked right into the owners’ suite. Imagine starting your day with a hot cup of coffee, enjoying a quiet morning without ever leaving your room.

Another great option is placing the coffee bar in a hallway outside the bedrooms. It’s a convenient setup for the whole family to grab their morning coffee or tea before heading downstairs.

Thoughtful Bar Design = Better Beach Living
No matter the size or style, a bar can elevate any space. Whether you’re hosting a crowd or enjoying a quiet evening, these designs prove that the right bar can make beach life even sweeter. Happy entertaining!
