6 Fun Beach House Elements to Inspire Your Beach House
Summer is in full swing and with so many of us traveling to a beach for some much-needed vacation days, I wanted to share a few fun design elements to help inspire your own beach house. Since our team designs and builds custom homes along the beaches of Delaware, I always find ways to bring in a contemporary coastal vibe throughout each space. From incorporating drift wood to installing outdoor bar swings, these design trends are sure to create that calming and relaxing beach vibe.
1. Nature is the best designer! In our Beach to Bay project, I created a driftwood mantle in the great room. I found this piece of driftwood on one of my beach walks and knew I had to incorporate it into a build. We dried it in a kiln for 30 days and now we have a custom mantle straight from North Bethany Beach.
2. Small details make big impressions. In our Weekend at Burnie’s custom build, I used black and white penny tile to spell out “Surf” in the flooring of a guest bathroom. A subtle design element that blends that coastal beach vibe with a contemporary look and feel.
3. Be sure to play with color. Our Sandman custom build is perfectly pink! I like to have fun with color, and selected Rosy Coral by James Hardie for the home’s exterior, and I added another pop of color by using Benjamin Moore’s Monmouth Green for front door. The top floor features a great room with fireplace surround painted in Benjamin Moore Rose Petal, which continues on the range hood in the kitchen, as well as on the cabinetry in the adjacent walk-in pantry. This one-of-a-kind Marnie Custom Home certainly makes a statement in the Town of Bethany Beach.
4. Perfect the perfect pet space. As we design homes, we also plan to accommodate our furry friends. This dog feeding station and sleeping nook is the ideal space for Fido in our new custom build, The Grey Pearl.
5. Incorporate vacation vibes. I designed these bar swings after being inspired by a trip to Mexico, where I saw these seating options and incorporated them into an outdoor beach bar set within the dunes in our Kan’t Beat the View build. The perfect spot for much deserved rest and relaxation.
6. Design with a twist. Crab feasts are a way of life at the beach, so when I saw this wallpaper from @spoonflower, I knew I had to incorporate it into our Beachwood custom home build. It’s a fun surprise and a great way to add personality to the home.
